This is our version of the classic Adirondack chair. These chairs are consructed out of  air dried White Pine, milled to 7/8" thick .( Most other Adirondack chairs are made with thinner stock). We also seal all the end grain and fill each screw hole with West System epoxy  glue, to prolong the life of each chair. Where each piece of wood meets another, we back prime,  to seal out any moisture. Next, we seal the entire chair with an oil based sealer to further preserve the wood. Finally, we give the A-1  two  good coats of a tough porch and floor enamal paint.  They come in two colors: Green and  a wonderful New England barn red.
As for the arms.....Jim chooses a different type of wood suitable for varnishing. The arms pictured here are done in Western Red Cedar, and finished with many coats of spar varnish.
