In assisting with the design of your table, one of the first things to consider is the shape. Different factors can come into play with this decision, but none more important than realizing how the table will be used, and any limitations that the shape and size of the room might have on the table itself.
2. Size:
The size is often determined by how many people you wish to seat at the table. We recommend allowing 22" per person / place setting.
3. Design:
We offer a number of different designs for our dining tables. Often times the design is driven by existing decor and by the room itself, and the chairs to be used. If you have a specific design in mind, please feel free to send us pictures, as this is often helpful. Jim is also very good at sketching designs in person , and most people enjoy this part of the process.
4. Base or legs:
Tables are typically supported by a set of legs, or one or more pedestals. Since either method works well on smaller tables, it is simply a matter of taste. On larger tables, pedestal or trestle bases provide support well inside of the table's edge and far from chairs and legs. We have a varied selection of trestle and pedestal designs to choose from.
5. Top
We specialize in reclaimed boards for our table tops. These boards are upwards to 200+ years old, with incredible color, texture and stability. We also use newly sawn Pine, which we call our "rustic Pine" as well as other fine hardwoods from around the world.
6. Finishes:
The finish we use on all of our tables is a low luster or satin Lacquer. It is a tough, long lasting finish with superior protection from water and food spills, yet has a very natural look, not a glossy, fussy finish.
